Donald Trump cancelled Nancy Pelosi’s overseas trips to Afghanistan, Egypt, and Brussels minutes before takeoff. He was able to achieve this by denying her access to military aircraft, citing Government shutdown in a letter. This is a clear response to Pelosi attempting to cancel Trump’s State of the Union address by denying him access to the traditional venue which is in front of a joint chamber of Congress at the chamber of the House of Representatives. She also cited Government shutdown, saying that since Secret Service and Department of Homeland security had been wrought with furloughs, there may not be enough security for the event.

Politicians like Adam Schiff said Trump was behaving like a fifth grader with his petty move. Others look at it as Trump using Pelosi’s own logic against her. Why use the military aircraft for a three-stop overseas excursion if your concern is about the 800,000 Americans who have been affected by the Government shutdown? 

Pelosi initiated the exchange with a highly political move in denying Trump access to the House chamber. She does not want him to deliver a much needed message about the border wall and shutdown in front of the entire nation, and world for that matter. Nor does she want to participate in it because she knows much of the blame would rest upon her shoulders.
