DEBUNKED: How Trump's border wall would disrupt nature + Three Major Reasons Democrats Need to Fund a Physical Barrier at the Southern Border - Fact-Checking Chuck Schumer in His Response to Trump Oval Office Address
First off, Vox is hyper-partisan, often debunked as they will be here, and often pretend, as in this case, to be objective. Not a credible news source AT ALL. National Geographic who is also pushing this narrative pushes leftist activist political agendas these days in contrast to the original natural and human geography focus of the magazine and has published embarrassingly and blatantly bad and debunked information regarding the 9/11 attacks. Secondly...
Three Major Reasons Democrats Need to Fund a Physical Barrier at the Southern Border - Fact-Checking Chuck Schumer in His Response to Trump Oval Office Address:
https://trumpisright.blogspot.com/2019/01/three-major-reasons-democrats-need-to.html
Short version:
1. There is a humanitarian crisis at the border.
2. Walls Work.
3. Democrats are apparently being hypocrites on the issue of having a barrier at the southern border.
Now to the issue of the alleged ecological impact of a physical barrier. There would definitely be areas where no barrier would exist where animals could cross, as well as places with barriers where they could be let through...
The border wall, it isn’t Trump’s wall, will be built on the US side of the border, where it is built. It is not necessary all across the border. At places where people want to go through legally, there would be gates to let them through with Border Patrol agents to verify who is crossing legally. The wall doesn’t even really need to be right on the border, so where there is a River, it could be easily used for recreation for people from both countries.
This really is a very simple answer to a simple question that some people, apparently, just can’t grasp.

If you're going to,, build one of the designs with bars/poles and 4-5 inch spaces in between. Most animals would pass through, except pumas, bears, pigs, antelopes(I don't think they're endangered there...?) And have large gaps with a thermal cam/sensors with a couple of guards ready nearby and no scary searchlights all nights on. Not much extra work and perhaps sensor costs are negated by less metal or money's even saved...

There were alot of big news stories involving Mexican drug cartels poaching endangered animals for shipment to China last year. Maybe building the wall would save species. Vaquita porpoise (most endangered sea mammal on earth)(sold to Asian meat market) Gold coin fish (bladders sold to Chinese medicine) Totoaba fish (bladders sold to Chinese medicine) Mexican wolf (furs) Sea turtles (meat and eggs locally and abroad)(hundreds of this endangered species were hacked apart with machetes near Acapulco) Somehow you never hear about stuff like this on US beaches. Subtropical Otters (furs) Every species of parrot (pet trade)

Good point!

The wall disrupts the natural habitat of animals and cartels. Lol
29 Facts About the Border and Mexican Cartels You Need to Know - "No one is proposing a wall between all of Mexico and the U.S.—the U.S. southern border is approximately 2,000 miles. The discussion is about 1,000 miles of physical barriers in regions that are heavily controlled by drug cartels."

Liberals can't win the immigration debate so they go for the animal rights debate... ok... the wall is going to be like the Israeli border wall where there are walls in certain areas then radar scans with guard towers in flatter areas. Animals can easily get through but humans cannot your example is Isreal.

Guess what else disrupts nature... Houses Roads Cars Arable Farming Water Treatment Facilities Oil Tankers Container Ships Power Plants etc. If disrupting nature was a reason not to do something, we’d still be living in caves

That was a great video except for the propaganda part for the uninformed. No one wants to build a wall where it will affect wildlife or where it doesn't make sense due to natural features. Border Patrol can handle that. The wall along other parts of the border WILL be built. Build that wall ! Phuck the Mexican government.

Wild life corridors are being planned. Part of the process but good points!

If you are worried about how a wall will effect local wildlife, why not study other nations that have border walls? Did Pakistan, India, Israel, Mexico etc. have massive issues in dealing with their walls impact on local fauna? Would your concerns about the genetic diversity in these animal populations, not be easily remedied by having a cross nation "catch and release" program? Say, every 5 years, both countries catch some sheep, bears, etc and exchange them to introduce new genetic material into the local populations....

I wonder how much criticism you hypocrites have against the closed border that Mexico have with Guatemala? and yes, Mexico don't take a single immigrant from it's neighbors.

I think most people are missing the point. Without a border, drugs, murderers, traffickers, and yes, terrorists have been coming across the undefended border less areas between Mexico and America. Are you so cold hearted as to simply ignore the parents of those killed by illegal immigrants? Do you leave your front doors open 24/7? If not, why not? What protects us from criminals and traffickers? How do we stop the intake of drugs? Do you really care more about animals than you do about your children? I do not see a Defense against all this hurting wildlife. Get a grip: are people throwaways or if as some of you say, we should learn to love, protect and care for all.
