A small story with a big message, as a waitress working in Washington D.C. during the inauguration weekend received a pleasant surprise after serving three men in town to witness the swearing in of Donald Trump as President of the United States.
Every server hopes for the day they’ll receive that big tip out of nowhere, but Jason White went over the top by not only providing a waitress who works at Busboys and Poets a $450 tip on a $72.60 bill, but also left an overwhelming message of unity and acceptance that ended up turning around her entire opinion of Trump supporters.

The Washington Post ended up interviewing Rosalynd Harris, the black waitress who received this pleasant surprise from three men from Texas, and she admits that she assumed “if someone supports Trump that they have ideas about you” as a minority, but also explained that they can be “even more embracing than even some of my more liberal friends”.
You automatically assume if someone supports Trump that they have ideas about you, but [the customer is] more embracing than even some of my more liberal friends, and there was a real authenticity in our exchange,” she told the paper.
Harris added that the message was a great reminder not to make assumptions and that many Americans want the country to come together regardless of politics
The only sad part about this story is that minorities and many liberals have such a negative view of Trump supporters (due to the constant fear mongering and fake news produced by the media painting a horrific image of them), and that people automatically brand his voters as “racists”.
The message that was included on the receipt by the Trump supporters was one of coming together as a country, regardless of different backgrounds or cultures, as “one people” and “just American”.
“We may come from different cultures and may disagree on certain issues, but if everyone would share their smile and kindness like your beautiful smile, our country will come together as one people. Not race. Not gender. Just American. God Bless!”
Harris told reporters that she was “overwhelmed” by the message and tip, which should open the eyes of anyone who feels they must automatically brand voters of any political beliefs as negative stereotypes, based mostly on slanted news headlines.
A waitress at a Washington D.C. restaurant received a very generous tip and a warm message on her receipt from three men who were in town for President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Rosalynd Harris, who works at Busboys and Poets in the northwest part of the nation’s capital, told The Washington Post she was beaming with confidence Monday after taking part in the Women’s March over the weekend.
A group of men from west Texas entered the restaurant and started to chat with Harris. One of the men, who said he was a dentist, complimented her on her smile. Harris, who is black, told the Post she was admittedly a bit prejudice when the men, who were white, told her they were in town to support Trump.
However, Harris didn’t expect what would come next.
After the men had left, Harris picked up their check and found that they left a heartwarming message and a generous tip. They left Harris a $450 tip on a $72.60 bill. Their message read:
“We may come from different cultures and may disagree on certain issues, but if everyone would share their smile and kindness like your beautiful smile, our country will come together as one people. Not race. Not gender. Just American. God Bless!”
Harris said she was overwhelmed.
“You automatically assume if someone supports Trump that they have ideas about you, but [the customer is] more embracing than even some of my more liberal friends, and there was a real authenticity in our exchange,” she told the paper.
Harris added that the message was a great reminder not to make assumptions and that many Americans want the country to come together regardless of politics.

If the anti-Trump protesters would take a moment to actually converse with Trump supporter, having a meaningful conversation rather than chanting prepared slogan, they might find that they have more in common than they thought.  I imagine they’d realize that many conservatives are actually more accepting, compassionate and willing to lend a helping than a lot of their liberal friends.
