Trump Isn't for Punishing Women, He's Against Killing Babies & He Believes in the Rule of Law, Which Allows Abortions

"Late termination of pregnancy is more controversial than abortion in general because it results in the demise of a fetus that is more developed and sometimes able to survive independently." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_termination_of_pregnancy

Recalling his personal observation of a late-term abortion performed by one of his instructors during his medical residency, Ron Paul stated, “It was pretty dramatic for me to see a two-and-a-half-pound baby taken out crying and breathing and put in a bucket.” http://www.ronpaul.com/on-the-issues/abortion/

Ok I think we need to address the news medias version of what Trump said about abortion. The media is making out like he said that women should be punished for abortions. What they failed to include in the story is that he was asked what should happen to women who get abortions IF ABORTION WERE TO BE BANNED. If abortions were illegal, there would need to be punishment like any other illegal act. He also says he is Pro Life with exceptions. Just another case of the media trying it's best to make Mr. Trump look bad.
Ignore the Washington Post and other outlets that don't give the full version of what was said.
Mr. Trump has since clarified his statement to say that the doctors and other professionals performing illegal abortions would be punished, not the women seeking illegal abortions.

DONALD J. TRUMP STATEMENT REGARDING ABORTION

Democrats For Life Of America & Former Planned... by debunkerbuster

Late-term abortion, which the news media also refers to as partial-birth abortion, generally refers to any intentional abortion procedure occurring after 20 weeks of gestation. The point that experts consider pregnancy to be late-term is one of the biggest debates involving this subject. Some experts believe that 12 weeks and later is late term, others state 16 weeks, 20 weeks or even later. A common belief is that any abortion where the child has a viable chance to survive out of the womb is certainly a late term abortion. The problem with this theory is that it varies widely from one pregnancy to another.

Late Term Abortion Laws

Countries around the world have different laws regarding late-term abortions. Canada, for instance, has no law regarding the gestational age of the child and when abortions can be performed. Of the 152 countries with records on hand, the following observations can be made:
  • 54 of these countries ban abortion except in cases where the mother's life is at risk
  • 44 countries ban late term abortion after a certain gestational age
  • 2 countries (The Netherlands and The United States) have regulations in place having to do with viability.
  • The remaining 52 countries, including Canada, have no laws regarding gestational age and abortion.

Trump Supporter on CNN: Abortion Question Was ‘Trap’ From ‘Liberal Media’

It WAS a hypothetical question and Chris Mathews is the one who brought up punishing women for abortion.

MATTHEWS: Do you believe in punishment for abortion, yes or no as a principle?

TRUMP: The answer is that there has to be some form of punishment.

MATTHEWS: For the woman?

TRUMP: Yeah, there has to be some form.

And just as the woman in the above clip points out, very soon after the attack of an interview, after having a bit of time to think, Trump clarified what form of punishment should be taken IF abortion was illegal. "The doctor or any other person performing this illegal act upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman."
