Trump urges Florida to prepare for large category 1 hurricane

President Trump recently thanked first responders and FEMA for their efforts in preparing for Hurricane Dorian. He took to Twitter Thursday, saying Puerto Rico is in “great shape” after Dorian took a “largely different route than anticipated” and bypassed the territory.The president expressed gratitude for those working hard for what ended up being a “great result.”He then advised Florida to get ready since “the storm is building” and is expected to be powerful. President Trump noted Dorian looks like it will be hitting Florida late Sunday night.

(NOAA via AP)According to the National Hurricane Center Thursday, Dorian has continued to cross open waters northwest of Puerto Rico at 13 miles-per-hour. In the next few days, it is forecasted to pick up speeds of up to 115 miles-per-hour, and turn into a Category Four storm as it approaches Florida’s coast.Forecasters have predicted it will be the worst hurricane to hit the state in three decades. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency, and advised residents to gather seven days of supplies in preparation of the impact.
