An Arizona mother by the name of Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos was deported back to Mexico after living in the United States for 20 or so years after a scheduled appointment with ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement). She had been living in the US as an illegal immigrant the entire time. Her husband has also been detained since he was illegal as well. They have children together, all but one of whom are United States citizens. Some in the mainstream media are saying that this is due to Donald Trump tightening restrictions on illegals, but the reality is that Mrs. Rayos was also a felon convicted for using a fraudulent and/or stolen social security number in 2008. In 2013, a judge ordered that she be deported back to Mexico.
ICE has been around as an organization since 2003 as part of Homeland Security. They arrest people on a daily basis that are in violation of the United States’ immigration and customs laws. Raids like the ones performed in California that have recently gained a lot of news coverage have been happening for the entire time of their existence. Some want to blame Trump, but a spokesperson for ICE says that the recent raids are routine and to the letter of the law. The mainstream media is sensationalizing these recent stories to play up to a narrative of Trump being a big, bad, racist bully. Even though immigration is not just a problem with people from Mexico and Central America. For example, there have been raids on Chinese massage parlors in the United States that have been harbors for human trafficking.
In the blogosphere and also in the pundit world, some have expressed grief over seeing young people and/or small children being detained and then deported by ICE. But the reality is, a lawbreaker is a lawbreaker. The age shouldn’t really matter. Because if there is, then there would be an uptick of people right beneath that age to try and cross the border illegally. Which would also cause an uptick in the amount of kidnapped youth that get sold into some sort of bondage. It would create more victims of human trafficking, which is a big part of the issue that ICE deals with on a daily basis, prime example being the Chinese massage parlor. At the end of the day an illegal alien is a lawbreaker and they should face punishment for their offense just like any other American citizen.
