Democrat Mayors Could Face 10 Years in Prison
Good morning, I’m still reporting on sanctuary cities.
One of the most interesting domestic battles that will occur shortly after Donald Trump takes office on January 20th is the battle over sanctuary cities – a battle that Trump must win.
At least 21 mayors across the U.S. recently came out in defiance of federal law forbidding sanctuary cities because they believe illegal immigration helps support them politically. And, sure enough, all 21 of the largest sanctuary cities voted against Donald Trump by massive percentages last month.
This defiance on the part of Democrat mayors was broken once before in U.S. history, during the late 1950’s and early 60’s when some mayors in the south refused to enforce desegregation laws.

Yes, these mayors can be charged with a federal felony, but that would take years to work its way through the courts. However, Trump probably doesn’t need to send in US Marshalls to make these mayors obey the law.
Over the past year, Congress has installed an “off” switch that will allow the incoming President Trump to cut off all federal law-enforcement assistance money on day one.

But, in addition, cities found not to be in compliance would have to repay all federal money they received over the last 10 years.

I’m still reporting from Washington. Good day.
