Pennsylvania Election Day Report from TrumpIsRight.BlogSpot.com

There was high voter turnout for my polling location here in Pennsylvania. Several people remarked on this in line, with one woman telling me that she had never seen such a long line in the 9 years she had been voting at this station.  While driving home a caller on Ohio talk radio remarked that there was very high turnout at his location as well.

A woman was handing out the flier pictured above outside to those coming in and out of the nearly 300 people that I overheard an election official say had voted there by approx 10:30, there were only three fliers discarded on a table inside.

On the downside, casting a paper ballot requires a phone call from a poll worker to an oversight board of some sort before the ballot can even be opened to be cast. With the line as it was, next to nobody is going to do this. Taking this into account, coupled with the legitimate concerns over these machines being easily hacked and manipulated, it seems to me that a standardized system must be put in place. One that compromises between the convenience of electronic voting and the accountability of paper voting would seem the best solution. Whereby paper receipts that can be recounted as well as a copy for the voter is produced with each electronic vote.

A friend of mine who used a paper ballot at another location said the poll worker was a bit flustered by the request and failed to make said call. I asked about this at my polling place and was told that they weren't sure what they would do to resolve this mistake, but that they were confident they would find a way to get the vote counted.
