"Extreme leftist ideas are driving people towards Trump. The left are acting like totalitarians while Trump is advocating for liberty and free speech.
Nevertheless, some people will vote for Biden, who is a crook, not because they approve of him as a candidate but because they hate Trump. Conversely many people are voting for Trump, not because they like him, but because he's the only one to stand up against things like critical race theory and other toxic SJW ideas. Biden is not anyone's savior. He's a corporatist stooge and is likely to continue, or start, wars. He'll certainly sell out the country, and jobs, to international interests.
Domestically, the reason the country is so fractured right now is because of media lies that created a false sense of reality. Many people on the left think that Trump is going to bring about the end of the world, that he is literally Hitler, a racist, that he wants to oppress women and minorities. They wrongly conflate his Nationalism with fascism and all these other ills. However, Trump's nationalism is centred on restoring the US as an economic powerhouse. There is nothing wrong with such an agenda.
