During one of his infamous live concert rants, rapper Kanye West revealed that he would have voted for Donald Trump if he voted. He was instantly hit with a sea a boos, a spattering of applause, and an actual object from the crowd which has thrown onto the stage. Kim Kardashian’s husband Kanye didn’t have the person who threw the object thrown out. Instead, he invited them to stay and express their opinion as it relates to the subject at hand - politics. Kanye’s overall rant was about 30 minutes to an hour, in the middle of a show in which people expected him to perform many of his classic hits. Some people got antsy and upset, others seized the opportunity to record what was happening on their phones so they could upload the footage to social media.
The rant in it’s entirety hasn’t been revealed, nor has a transcript, but the key point was revealing his (late) support for Donald Trump. Mr. West also said that black people should stop focusing on race. While acknowledging that racism exists and the world is racist, he says blacks shouldn’t focus on it so much. Which, of course, is a 100% correct statement. Black people in the United States focus too much on racism and not actually developing business and community to a respectable and sustainable level.
Kanye West wasn’t the most likeable guy even before his very long political rant but his stock may have weakened among liberals and some blacks who are easily triggered by political affiliation. Maybe his stock has risen among some conservatives, but at the same time, the reasons they dislike him may go deeper than positive political affiliation can overcome. Such as his remarks about George Bush in 2005 about Hurricane Katrina. The infamous “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” Many liberals have also cited that saying that he is now a hypocrite.
Even with all of the political division our country is facing, and the general dislike one rapper, Kanye West, is faced with … some people can at least respect the man’s ability to formulate his own opinion and not fall victim to the black hive mind and groupthink, which is truly a plague of a beastly form at this point.
