Kanye Slavery Comments Cause Internet Meltdown But Was He Wrong? - Kanye West "400 years of slavery sounds like a choice" #IfSlaveryWasAChoice

Kanye West made an appearance on TMZ Live and shared a variety of thoughts that were on his mind, including the very sensitive topic of slavery. He expressed bewilderment that slavery could last for 400 years and said that it sounds like a choice. Kanye then went on to say that there is also a thing called mental slavery which many people suffer from. Later in the conversation, Kanye was speaking to the random staff members at TMZ, asking them if they understood what he was talking about and his thought process. A black male TMZ employee named “Van” stood up and said that Kanye wasn’t thinking at all and he was reckless with his words. Van also said he was hurt by his words. It goes without saying that the internet has been infuriated since the TMZ audio came out. Calls of “cancelling” Kanye, calling him a “coon”, saying he is in the “sunken place” and more have come about. Ironically enough, simply prove his point about mental slavery. Especially since many people who are coming after Kanye also supported Erik Killmonger and his quote at the end of Black Panther. “Bury me in the ocean with my ancestors that jumped from ships because they knew death was better than bondage.” It sounds a lot like what Kanye said, but since Kanye is seen as a conservative and Killmonger is seen as a liberal-uber-black-revolutionary, then reactions to their statements are different.
